Yes, SAMDDRA is a professional body that generally align to SAQA qualifications and regulations. Individuals with foreign qualifications have to obtain an equivalent from SAQA at their own cost before applying for SAMDDRA membership.

Not necessarily. Free services for the public do exist from SAMDDRA especially when it comes with complaints related our members. However, many services are paid by the applicant.

Anyone around the world and interested in SAMDDRA’s activities may apply for membership:

• Affiliate membership: reserved to individuals trained by SAMDDRA or SAMDDRA partners with compliant curriculum.
• Ordinary membership: for anyone with interest in SAMDDRA activities or holding a non-technical certificate or offering services and products to the public.
• Technical membership: for anyone holding a SAMDDRA technical certificate.

Any business registered in South Africa may apply for membership and classified through stipulated conditions related to ownership, manpower and technology. This can be a one person’s run company up to complex multi-services and advanced corporate companies.

Anyone around the world and interested in any stream within the SAMDDRA may apply for a SAMDDRA certification. A certification is a technical or professional assessment for skills and knowledge, which has no geographical limitations.

Anyone holding a valid SAMDDRA membership around the world and holding a SAMDDRA certificate may apply for a SAMDDRA designation. A designation is maintained through the membership renewal. A designation is not an academic qualification, but only a title emanating from a recognized level of professionalism based on a qualification together with an accumulated experience for the concerned individual.

Anyone with a duly registered company around the world may apply for accreditation. In South Africa, that company (one person SMME up to complex companies) must be registered at CIPC and SARS. The said company must also comply with requirements related to ownership and employment of SAMDDRA certified individuals.

A company that applies for accreditation will need to be assessed by SAMDDRA’s independent consultants contracted by the SAMDDRA accreditation and certification board. Accreditation fees apply.
