Inside Education reports that Higher Education and Training Minister Buti Manamela handed over fully equipped cellphone repair containers to 25 entrepreneurs at the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Sebokeng.
The R19 million Cellphone Repair Skills Programme is implemented by W&RSETA in partnership with SAMDDRA. It seeks to equip 500 disadvantaged South Africans with practical repair skills and a route into business ownership.
The report also highlights calls to expand the initiative, involve industry partners and encourage communities to use qualified local technicians.
