ITWeb reports that 25 additional beneficiaries would receive fully equipped cellphone repair containers through the R19 million Cellphone Repair Programme, which aims to train 500 disadvantaged young South Africans.
The W&RSETA and SAMDDRA initiative provides three months of technical training, a monthly stipend and an operational workshop, reducing the cost barrier of renting space in a mall or commercial centre.
Since the programme began in 2024, it has trained 326 South Africans and prioritises opportunities for young people, women and persons with disabilities.
